How TripNudge works

Know when to book the parts of your trip.

Flights, trains, and popular attractions often open bookings on different schedules. TripNudge helps you organize those booking windows in one place so you know when to start checking and when something is ready to book.

1

Search

Choose a flight, train operator, or attraction and enter the date you plan to travel or visit.

2

Check the timing

TripNudge compares your date with the provider's typical booking window and tells you whether the booking window has opened, when it is expected to open, or when you should check the provider's live calendar.

3

Save a Nudge

If booking has not opened yet and TripNudge can estimate or knows the release date, save a Nudge. We'll email you around the expected opening so you do not have to keep checking manually.

Booking windows are not all the same

Some providers use predictable rolling windows. For example, an airline may consistently open flights a certain number of days before departure. TripNudge can calculate those dates automatically.

Other providers release schedules in batches, by season, or through live booking calendars. Train operators, attractions, and some airlines may open several weeks or months of inventory at once. In those cases, TripNudge uses the best available published schedule, observed booking calendar, or typical release pattern.

Some providers only publish approximate booking horizons. When that happens, TripNudge labels the result as an estimate rather than presenting an exact release date.

Flights and trains: timing, not route search

The origin and destination you enter help organize your trip and saved nudges. TripNudge does not currently verify that the selected airline or train operator actually serves that exact route.

You can still use TripNudge to organize the provider and trip you are planning. Always confirm the route, timetable, and availability directly with the provider before booking.

What does a green status mean?

A green status means the booking window for your selected date has opened based on the information TripNudge has available.

It does not guarantee that a specific flight, train, ticket type, fare, entry time, or attraction ticket is still available. Popular attractions may already be sold out even though their booking window is open.

Providers can change schedules, restrict certain routes, sell out, delay timetable releases, or change their booking policies. The provider's own website remains the final source of truth.

High-demand attractions

Some attractions are much harder to book than others. When a visit date is close and the attraction is known to sell out, TripNudge may show an additional high-demand warning.

This warning is separate from the booking-window status. A green status can correctly indicate that booking has opened while the warning tells you that remaining ticket availability may already be limited or sold out.

Official and third-party booking links

When booking is available, TripNudge may provide a link to the provider's official booking website as the primary booking option.

For some attractions, TripNudge may also show optional third-party ticket, tour, or booking options. Some of these links are affiliate links, which means TripNudge may earn a commission if you make a purchase through them at no extra cost to you.

Third-party options are separate from the official provider. Prices, availability, ticket inclusions, cancellation policies, refunds, and customer support are determined by the applicable third party. Review the booking details before purchasing.

Status guide

TripNudge uses different status labels depending on how predictable the provider's booking pattern is and how much reliable information is available.

Booking window open

The release window for your selected date has already opened. This is used especially for same-day searches. It does not mean tickets, seats, or the exact route are still available.

Available now

TripNudge has enough booking-window information to determine that your selected date is inside the provider's released booking horizon. Confirm actual inventory on the provider's website.

Likely available now

Your selected date appears to be inside an approximate booking window, but the provider does not publish a precise enough rule for TripNudge to treat the result as exact.

Opens in X days

TripNudge has a specific calculated opening date based on a dependable fixed or rolling booking window.

Est. opens in X days

TripNudge can estimate the opening date, but the provider's published timing is approximate or may be affected by timetable releases, seasonal schedules, or batch openings.

Not available yet

TripNudge has reliable information showing that your selected date is beyond the provider's currently released booking calendar.

Summer / Winter not released yet

The provider publishes seasonal schedules and the season containing your selected travel date has not yet been released.

Check booking calendar

The provider does not publish a dependable fixed booking window, so TripNudge cannot calculate a precise opening date.

Check route calendar

The booking horizon depends on the route, such as domestic versus international train travel, so TripNudge cannot safely calculate one universal opening date.

Check reservation calendar

Reservations are released through a live calendar or a variable schedule rather than one dependable fixed-day rule.

Check seasonal schedule

Future inventory is released through seasonal schedules and the timing can vary by route, airport, or market.

Check latest batch

The provider releases inventory in announced or recurring batches rather than on a predictable rolling schedule.

Release date unknown

There is not enough reliable public information to estimate a release date yet.

Release timing varies

The provider's booking horizon changes enough that TripNudge does not want to show a false exact date.

Booking window does not mean live inventory

Green means the booking window has opened. TripNudge does not currently check live seat counts, ticket inventory, sold-out entry times, or whether an airline or train operator serves the exact route entered.

How accurate are the dates?

TripNudge uses provider policies, published schedules, typical booking horizons, and observed booking availability to estimate release timing.

Exact rolling windows can usually be calculated automatically. Approximate horizons, batch releases, and seasonal timetables are less predictable, so those results may be estimates and can move earlier or later.

TripNudge also avoids relying indefinitely on old live booking-calendar observations. Calendar-based results are only treated as current when they have been verified recently.

We periodically verify provider rules and provide a “Report it” option when something appears incorrect or outdated.

Nudges

When TripNudge has a future estimated or known opening date, you can save a Nudge using your email address. A Nudge is an email reminder that helps you know when it is time to check or book.

Some providers may support more precise Nudges when an exact release time is known.

If a Nudge is based on an approximate booking horizon, TripNudge will identify it as an estimate because the provider may open sales earlier or later.

If a provider uses unpredictable schedule batches and has not announced its next release, TripNudge may not yet be able to create a precise Nudge.
